Best Shears

I'm starting to make metal frames and I get a lot of advice from apprentices in the field. Almost every apprentice uses these scissors. I had Milwaukee from Home Depot but they didn't stand a chance. They hurt my hands and everyone who tried them said they were bad and recommended Midwest. So I got this and it made my life easier. Strong, durable and cuts easier than other brands.

Nifty Snipers on Hand Tools

These are good scissors---technically aviation scissors. I bought these to cut through 19 gauge coated fabric and they did the job perfectly. When I was shopping, I didn't realize that aviator scissors were "manual". Reds work to cut left or center and work well in the right hand. They feel pretty comfortable and run really fast - I don't have a lot of arm strength and was able to slip through the wires on the hardware fabric quickly. Be careful with them - they can easily tear off your finger…

Quality Power & Hand Tool Scissors

I had to cut a piece (thick enough) of sheet metal to patch a hole in an HVAC vent. I bought a pair of Harbor Freight scissors because I knew I would probably only use them once. Unfortunately the Harbor Freight shears were too thin to cut the sheet metal I bought and because the handles were plastic they warped and bent when trying to cut the sheet metal - it just made a big mess and I was able to die don't finish work. cut even if I wanted to.
