I use this for white wines

pH strips can be tricky to use with red wines so I only use them on my pale wines. The test strips are easy to use with a clear display that can be compared to the color chart on the packaging. I will buy more of these when I need them.

pH paper is only a rough estimate.

If you're making one batch of wine a year from a kit, or just want to make your life easier, this pH paper is a great place to start as it's free. a lot of. If you produce more than one batch of wine a year and want better and more accurate results, I recommend buying a pH meter. When I first started making wine, pH paper was good enough. In the beginning I didn't use a pH meter or check the acidity and my wine was fine. Now that I'm more experienced, I need more accurate results; So I bought a

Expired Strips in Lab Supplies and Consumables

I use these to measure the pH of my Kombucha. The first strips I used read accurately until a few months later they started turning purple. I've read that light and air affect them, so I figured that's why you didn't read properly. This happened to the second container. With the 3rd container, the first stripe immediately turned purple.
