I got this to help my dogs with their morning barking. Unfortunately, it is very difficult for him to block the light unless he can be attached to the cage. My dog decided to take it upon himself to open his cage while he was still in it. Since it doesn't bind, he almost dragged the whole thing in and started tearing it up. Luckily it's quite durable so apart from a small crack it hasn't gone too far. But in any case, if the cover doesn't stay in place, it won't work and it won't stay in place.

I ALMOST didn't buy it because there were some bad reviews but I'm very glad I did. Most reviews describe this material as very thin and tears easily, but if it's just a box cover and your dog isn't fiddling with it, it won't tear. I used a navy blue blanket that was too big and didn't fit well to cover our dog's cage. He liked going to his dark, safe place! However, I did NOT like the chunky, sagging, mismatched color in our dorm room, so I looked for a better drawer cover. It had great reviews so I ordered it. These are my honest thoughts on this: 1. Well when I got a dog when I got the cage and cover I thought it was a sale set. Not as much. The lid fits the box perfectly, but if you have a chewer on it, it will pull and tear, and it will tear easily. That's not the biggest problem! As my chocolate lab grew from 6 weeks to 5 months, his breathing in the crate at night also increased. It came out of the drawer one evening as I was about to take it for a walk at 3am (I work 3rd shift and the family cleans it up early) and it smelled of mold!
