Description of Mighty Mule Wireless Driveway FM231

Instantly alerts you when someone pulls into or out of your driveway. The outdoor electromagnetic sensor only detects vehicles; no false alarms due to animals, children, etc. Easy-to-install Electromagnetic Sensor Wand is buried next to your driveway, and detects mass metal moving within a 3-12 ft. radius of the wand. When a vehicle passes by the sensor, an outdoor transmitter communicates wirelessly to an internal base station up to 400 ft. away and sounds a pleasant chime. Ideal for home and business. Requires 2 AA batteries (Sold Separately). Low battery indicator on both the Indoor receiver and transmitter.

Don't waste your time and money.

This thing was lying on the ground next to my street. I heard it turns off every time. So we buried him. That does not work. I brought it closer, back to the ground, it worked perfectly so I dug it in, again following the instructions and again it didn't work at all. I've moved it as close as possible to actually get notified before someone is at my door above ground. It worked great, dug in. It worked! Worked great for 3 days! I went outside and made sure the UAD cable wasn't pulled out of the

Completely incompatible

The installation was quite easy, but our system was not stable from day one. maybe 20% of the time. We have line of sight between the receiver in the house/window and the transmitter on the property (less than 200 feet) so we don't think this is a problem. We also tried digging the detector to different depths, from about 6 inches to the recommended foot and even closer to the center of the drive, but those changes didn't help either. The floor above the metal detector also gave us conflicting…

Works great but installation is a hassle

Works perfectly and I would give 5 stars if installation details were provided for a fully sealed start. Also, I just finished the installation and have yet to see how it behaves in different vehicles and weather conditions. So, now to the installation. On page 2 of the installation guide under "For best performance” it is recommended to route the signal cable inside the PVC conduit. We live in a country where gophers destroy undermined cables, so running PVC cables was a requirement, not an…

Low tech and I love it!

Between fans and air conditioning, I can't hear anyone driving on my 100ft gravel road. I updated various items around my house to interact with Alexa, looked for some sort of alarm in my driveway, and found this little gem. It's low-tech - so no Alexa - but who cares! He does his job. I thought carefully about the installation and left it in the box for 3 weeks before attempting to reattach it. It ended up with some PVC piping and a 90 degree cable management connector (as explained in…

I bought a house that was way out in the woods with a long driveway and what's worse it's hard to see the driveway from the house. I soon got tired of being surprised by delivery men and other guests showing up at my door because I never saw or heard them walking down the driveway. It was also a bit of a concern that people could easily sneak into my territory undetected. I bought this traffic alarm and it did a great job - I needed something that would selectively respond to only vehicles and…

UPDATED 13 MONTHS: Lithium batteries are being replaced today, 13 months after their installation. The alarm and low battery indicator didn't work, but we suspected it didn't always work when new batteries were needed. So far, so good. However, highly recommended! We are thrilled so far, great for the price. I ended up ordering a 15-foot male-to-female USB cable from Revain, which was blessed by manufacturer Mule, who says you shouldn't add more than 25 feet. We placed the sensor about two feet

Great for the landscape

I'm an old recluse living in a very rural part of Colorado, and I hate surprises. My driveway is almost a half mile long and part of it is hidden behind trees. I tried this magnetic alarm in my driveway because there are so many deer and moose here that the infrared detectors kept going off. I've been using one of these for over two years and am very happy with it. Sometimes it stops working, but usually a new set of batteries will do. Some reviews said they stopped working. Mine did it once…

Currently the best on the market but needs some updating

For 10 years I've struggled with two different models of STI driveway monitors (Mighty Mule's main competitor). Due to its construction, the first STI monitor constantly had problems with moisture penetration until it was put into practical use. The exchange, for unknown reasons, drained batteries at a tremendous rate and suffered from repeated false alarms only during sudden temperature changes. I had to keep resetting the sensitivity setting to combat the latter. When STI tech support didn't…
