I have a square!

A few years ago I learned the hard way how to test my layout tools. I have a brand new square that wasn't square. I checked this square as soon as I got it, it was right on the money. Easy to read, solid construction. Milescraft makes quality tools at reasonable prices. Jim

Not exactly! suitable for joiner's square

accuracy is terrible. Contacted seller, communication was great. They sent me to the second. Same problem. The seller again communicated well and sent a third one. This time they stated that their quality control personally tested it to make sure it met their specifications. No, not yet.

Pros
  • impressive
Cons
  • there are nuances

For me it stands best in carpenter's squares

Nice square and although I've read that some of them were slightly wrong and needed correction, in this case they weren't. I measured the caliper at the 2" mark and as you can see in the picture it turned out to be correct. The same applies to corner markings. Easy to use, the only thing to remember is that it's made of aluminum so you can't hang it on a magnet bar, otherwise it's great.

Pros
  • Stable results when tested
Cons
  • I'll write later

Not everything is so good when it comes to measuring and marking tools

The problem in general is that there is very poor quality control. While I have no doubt some got good ones, mine wasn't, it was at least half a degree off, also the anodizing was pretty bad and rough, so much so that it couldn't stick to the cast iron table. , I returned it and invested in a certified square only to complete the quest for a square that is a square.

Pros
  • Working hands-free
Cons
  • The list will be long.

This is a metric tool that someone made an imperial cube for. The blade width is not nominal 1/8, 1/4. The length is a metric value. Numerals and serifs are rolled/embossed in the final production stage. The square edge is a rough cut with the added roughness of the serifs, each bulging. Maybe you could scale a fish with that sharp edge? Buy this tool for the biggest tool in your workplace, you deserve it.

Inaccurate delivery condition

I was looking for an angle that was slightly larger than my engineer's angle and slightly smaller than the rafter angle. But if there's anything that should be a square, it is a square, and this one was nowhere near what was delivered. This could be remedied by expanding the bottom hole and reinstalling the screws, but honestly it feels cheap and precision is the only thing that makes a square useful. It also arrived with a slight kink in the long arm - perhaps that's how it was delivered - in…

Pros
  • Anodized aluminum stock 3mm thick. Removable aluminum stop. Includes mounting holes for European style hinges
Cons
  • Large and bulky

I love these squares: Measuring and marking tools

I had a branded square that was much more expensive than this unit. When I needed a second one I broke up to give this guy and his little brother a chance. I couldn't be happier. They are exactly what I need, they do the job for a fraction of the price of other models which by the way have a million holes that allow you to choose different distances from the edge which takes a lot of time to find a pencil first , hitting those tiny holes, and a second, that particular distance may be needed…

Pros
  • Two quick goniometers for 30° and 45° angles
Cons
  • Crumpled

Not square suitable for measuring and scribing tools

not the case. I was trying to straighten a closet door with this tool and it showed that two corners on one side were blunt. I thought it was very unlikely so I used two other squares and both showed that the door was square. I then decided to compare Milescraft's square to several other squares and both showed that Milescraft's square wasn't actually a square. I then tested the Milescraft square on a known rectangular machined block of steel. Again, Milescraft's square turned out not to be a…
