Good buy - Angle grinder

Got this for my son as a Christmas present. He has a good selection of Milwaukee instruments. So it has 4 or 5 batteries. This is a powerful tool. Works perfectly. But a big fall. This angle grinder drains your battery in 15 minutes. So while working on an important project. Like a plow frame on a truck. Make sure you have spare batteries and a charger nearby.

Pros
  • Angle grinder
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Plumbers read this: Angle Grinders

I've used this 3 times to cut 2 inch cast iron drain lines on a renovation. I used a red 5.0 lithium battery; brand new for the last time. This pup stopped 3-4 times during the cutting process. I usually cut out an H shape, tap it out, and then cut the rest of the tube into the tube space with the grinder body to get a nice even cut for my mission clamp (so I don't have to dig under the horizontal tube to make a grinder to get underneath.) For this cut, the grinder used 3 of 4 light sticks…

Possibly fake?

Not sure if this is a real Milwaukee chopper. very, very weak. Probably one of the weakest grinders I've ever used (chokes as soon as you touch metal to start grinding). I have a lot of Milwaukee tools and this doesn't look like the Milwaukee product I'm used to. The swivel blade guard also works poorly, sloppy and the knob won't remove. You need to use a screwdriver to loosen it. If I hadn't been such a pain in the ass and lived an hour away from the installation site, I would have returned…

Pros
  • Chopper
Cons
  • Big and chunky
