The old fashioned big hole mandrel, part number 7140, had a habit of self destructing and losing parts. Instead of trying to fix it I just bought a new updated version which is much better. This significantly speeds up the process of replacing crowns.
This is the toughest tool you'll ever need for the size of saws it's designed for. I used it with a 4-1/8" hole saw to cut a hole for a dust box hole in an exterior metal door. It cut through like a hot knife through butter. never came along like some.
