Great quality, great fit

I wanted something for hiking that wasn't as bulky as my old wool hat. That's great. It is warm yet breathable (typical of merino wool), yet lightweight and very compact. My head is bigger and I hate tight hats, but this one fits really well - snug enough that it doesn't move but isn't snug on my head. I have no idea why anyone would pay two or three times as much for a branded merino hat. It seems to have the same quality and functionality as Smartwool.

Suitable for a thick head.

This hat replaces my favorite Smartwool hat which I dropped out of my coat pocket while walking around the airport. Luckily this Minus33 hat was even better - a little warmer, a little softer and most importantly it fits my fat XL head better than other fairly snug fitting hats. So now I can consider this purchase an "upgrade" and not the result of an unfortunate loss. Also comes w. reusable packaging for off-season cap storage to protect against moths. Highly recommended, especially for large…

The best so far! - Skullies & Beanies

I shave my head so hats are a must in Michigan winters. I've never heard of this brand, but I'm a big fan of wool, especially during the hunting season. Arrived quickly and brand new. At first I was surprised how thin the material is, but after wearing it for a day and then sitting in a tree for 5 hours in 45 degrees, I was hooked! Keeps my head warm and becomes the only warm part of my body! The wool is very soft and I had no problems with itching. I am completely satisfied with this purchase…

just the right size to withstand high winds without buckling my head

I've had many watch caps in my life, many of which were made before the Motorcycle Helmet Act. They were regularly blown away by the wind, as were Ray-Bans and bandanas. My hair is thinning now and I live in a place where the winters are cold and windy. I thought I'd like to try the high end. It fits perfectly and keeps my head warm despite being thinner than any synthetic jersey or regular wool. The itch factor is low. A strong wind will not blow it away. I keep it near my keys and wallet from

Pros
  • Alright!
Cons
  • Not the best

Lid too small despite "one size fits most" sign. I wear oversized hats so it's worth mentioning. Even more disappointing is how thin the lid is. I live on the North Shore of the Gulf of Mexico and there have been many cold and windy days this year and this hat did not keep my head warm during those cold days. If you live in more northerly latitudes you might forget to use this hat on cold and windy or very cold winter days as it's just not designed for that. One more note: despite the fact that

NOT the traditional Minus33 hat!

Either this is a scam/fake or Minus33 have radically changed their product. I've been ordering/using these hats regularly for the past 4 years; Before they were all big and definitely merino wool - very warm (if not windproof). This latest order (November 1, 2018) is a HUGE disappointment. First, I don't think it's merino; Rather, it is small and stretchy, like spandex or other synthetic-based stretchy materials. Second, I have a head size of about 7-5/8, but this thing squeezes my head to the…

Exactly what I expected

Not my first Merino product so I knew what I was buying beforehand. The 250gsm double layer means it's thinner than most hats but more than thick enough for merino wool. Perfectly sewn, the label is not sewn, allowing the cuff to be fully unfolded. Color point mottled grey, pleasant dark shade. It's important to note that "one size fits all" really worked for me! I know how stretchy merino wool is so I figured that wouldn't be a problem. I have a 24 inch head or 7 3/4 hat size and I can pull it

Pros
  • Perfect for a small house
Cons
  • The list is long.

100% MERINO WOOL DOES NOT MEAN 100% MERINO WOOL!

Let me start by saying I'm no newbie to wool. In fact, the photos I've posted compare this hat to some of the best merino wool base layers you can buy in a similar weight. Anyone who has had clothing made from real wool, merino or not, knows that this is not a stretchy material and doesn't hold its shape well, so it needs to be reshaped after washing and laid flat to dry, so manufacturers add a stretch fabric, like z like Eslatin to help him stay in shape when needed. This hat is very stretchy…

The perfect hat. Finally.

This may sound silly but I can honestly say this is the best hat I have ever bought. Let me explain: I grew up in Michigan, lived in Colorado and have always been an upstate fan. In Colorado, that meant cross-country skiing, which remains the toughest physical activity I've ever attempted (I'm good enough to sleep in a -19F snow cave on the Continental Divide at 12,500 feet in January. I've do not climb it to higher mountains). ). For all these years I've been looking for a thin 100% wool knit…
