Mitutoyo 115 313 Spherical Micrometer Ratchet: Precise Measurement Tool for Spherical Objects Review

If you buy one of these you already know what it's for. Good build quality and very accurate. Obviously it's more expensive than some fakes, but if you're looking for quality and accuracy then this is for you. Should last a lifetime with proper care. Buy once, cry once.

I use this micrometer to measure case/neck thickness on all my gun cases. This is by far the best tool for this - Mitutoyo's Japanese build quality is second to none. Mounting in a vice makes the job quick and easy.

I bought this to measure bearings whilst rebuilding my 600hp engine. I wanted to make sure everything is correct. And to my surprise, with 2 cam bearings, my Clevite bearings were 0.001" smaller. This saved my engine about $20,000 and a lot of headaches so don't be stingy and say it's overpriced. However, I installed a bearing and when I saw that I had no play with a caliper I used it to measure the bad bearings.
