Not for the faint of heart if you've never fixed anything like this, but certainly doable. For me it holds up well enough. It may not be 100 percent perfect, but in my case there are a few downsides as well. This iPad does nothing but sit in the church choir loft to control the sound card that feeds our worship services, audio streaming, and this screen replacement is great for my use. I would buy again but hope I don't have to!

It would cost us $140 for someone else to do it, so I figured we'd at least try. My husband used this kit to fix our broken iPad 4 screen. It wasn't easy and he took some advice from the commenters (be careful with the home button) but now it's working great. One piece of advice he was willing to give was if the touchscreen isn't working, keep moving the tape because he didn't get it at first. Hope this helps someone!

Installation was easy but I've already replaced some screens so no big deal. My concern is that after 2 months of working great, the touchscreen just started randomly selecting and smearing the entire screen. Like he was either possessed or someone hacked and played with me. This also happens when the network is off, so I knew it wasn't. Updated and deleted/reinstalled the OS but the problem remained. A little bit frustrating.

The best glass replacement I've ever used. I've replaced dozens of screens and this is the best kit that has everything already attached, like the self-adhesive h button. You need to clean the surface very well for the glue to stick and make sure it lines up well. I always warm up a new screen and iPad in a hot car for 30-60 minutes to get sticky mice and water, then put them in and use a large book (bigger than an iPad to distribute the weight and about 20 pounds to fit on and let cool for 3…

Installed the screen today. Quite easy. You just have to take your time. Recommend goggles and do it outdoors if your screen cracked very badly. Heating with a hair dryer will blow glass everywhere if the screen starts cracking when you remove it. The hardest part was removing the straps.
