Do not buy for sport

This product is not suitable for mountain biking. It wasn't wide enough to protect the tailgate from a bike tire, and the velcro wasn't a technique either. Don't waste money.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • So-so

Some Subtlety - Cycling

You get what you pay for. Could definitely have been a bit thicker and better padded. I bought this as a spare in case I have more people than my bike rack can hold.

Pros
  • Lots of Positive Emotions
Cons
  • Functionality

Swings back and forth a bit

Does its job well. I have a full size tailgate trim, but as my new F150's tailgate is wider at the top, the old trim doesn't fit as tightly as it did on my old F150. Everything is fine except for a bit of movement.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Good value for money.

Very good value for money, but a stopper can also be used for the fork. I ended up using a timing belt to hold the bike fork. Once I used this, this tailgate trim worked great.

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • I will add later

Ideal for a bike

Suitable for a bike but tends to move easily through the tailgate as it is not very wide. You must tighten the band as tightly as possible to prevent this from happening. I also use a ratchet strap to keep the bike from moving when riding on mountain roads.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • Frequency

Doesn't protect your gate.

Unlike the wide ones that completely close the gate, this one doesn't protect the gate from the hoop. When I first used it, the rubber on the tire scratched the clear coat on my gate quite badly. I would only recommend if you put another layer under the tires otherwise you will have an old rusty truck!

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Quality

Works with optional harness

I love the product but I think I should have gone with the full width rack type. This thought tends to slide back and forth when gravitational or central forces are acting on the bike during cornering. It cannot be tightened enough to actually stay in place. It's solid and pretty basic but really needs some extra support, especially on heavier bikes like cruisers and the like.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others
