Forget it won't fit most pre-drilled holes. Usually you can fix this problem. dun dun dun, drill to make the hole bigger. The main problem with this "holder" is that the two pieces of metal fly apart. When you need to change the role, the holder is divided into two parts by tension. Every time you want to replace a roll, you have to put the two parts together. I may have caught a defective piece, but this is a silly design. I bought this thanks to another reviewer who gave me the length of a toilet roll holder. I would have preferred the old brass version but people said it was too short for my needs. If you are definitely looking for a replacement with "thick" ends (about 5/8 inch wide) then this will help. I was concerned that some of the other rolls were too short to fit. -1/2 inch long but I would shorten it by a quarter of an inch to fit the spring in place.
