Works great: SATA Cable

Purchased to power the graphics card in the Dell PowerEdge T410 server with 6-pin power supply. The server had no power connectors except for a free SATA power connector and that met my needs. I'm using an 8600 GTS graphics card that draws a maximum of 61W. 12V. The SATA cable spec says 54W max so I'm above the spec but haven't seen any issues so far. If you're using a graphics card with higher performance requirements, you'll probably need a dual SATA to 6-pin header, otherwise it will work…

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • May damage

Works, but first know what you're doing.

First of all I would like to say that I prefer to deal directly with Monoprice. Since I needed this part, I quickly ordered it through Revain. It's a decent cable, but the SATA power is 54W, not 75W for the PCIe power spec (but they can usually handle a lot more power). Practically I would not want to use more than 100W graphics card with this adapter.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons

Working but only for low current applications

I bought 2 of these to power the Cube ASIC Miner and they ran for about 20 hours until the 2 yellow wires overheated and melted the insulation. Luckily I was sitting in the room when they started melting and smelling, or there could be a short circuit which resulted in significant damage to my electronics or possibly even a fire. I bought a molex dual entry kit and it worked great and didn't even get warm. So it seems that the power required by the connected peripheral should be below about…

Pros
  • Good product for the price

Worked on GTX 1060

This product worked for me and allowed me to get power over a SATA connection to a GTX 1060 graphics card. Due to another reviewer's comment about it melting on them, I haven't tried running super intensive programs yet. I'm waiting to upgrade my PSU before using something heavy instead of using an adapter. But overall I am very happy with this purchase.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons

DO NOT BUY, ALMOST SET FIRE

I have a gaming rig that I recently added a USB stick to and it needs extra power to run. I lost the extra SATA power cable to my modular power supply so I bought this one. I plugged it in, everything is fine, and when I turned on my prefix, it started smoking. Luckily I didn't leave or I have about $2,000 worth of electronics that now need to be replaced.

Pros
  • Looks great
Cons

This worked great for connecting a 90w TDP graphics card to my prebuilt Dell computer. I bought this cable to power a GTX 950. Since the motherboard PCIE slot needs to deliver 75W, this cable should deliver around 15W under load. However, I set the power limit to a lower value so that the card only draws all the power from the PCIe slot anyway. If you plan on getting a lot of power out of this cable I would consider the 2 SATA -> 6 pin option just in case.

Pros
  • Complete Kit
Cons
  • Empty

Item good on computers and accessories

this is a good adapter, I had no problems with it, it provided power where I needed it as a temporary solution until I got a new power supply, there was no perm solution , since what I used it for did cause some heating, but here's how things are when you're using a patch. I wouldn't recommend this for a graphics card in the long run as it uses the low power bus from your PSU's SATA bus unless you have a high output SATA bus. it does what it was designed to do.

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Saved me buying a new graphics card

Let me start by saying, just because you can doesn't mean you have to. I recently bought a cheaper Dell outlet computer that only has a 295w PSU. I was planning to reuse my GTX 1060 graphics card from my old PC to save money, but the new computer PSU didn't have the required 6-pin power connector to support it. That's why I had to buy this gorgeous $4.25 cable. I inserted the card, added a new power cable and voila, it worked! Yes, I know I shouldn't have done that. Nvidia strongly recommends…

Pros
  • SATA 15-pin to 6-pin PCI Express Card Power Cable
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
