What a wonderful invention

Shockers easily replace the old ones. There were problems when replacing the spring bushings due to rust. The impact raised the van's level by a full two inches! What a great invention!

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Excellent shock absorbers but not cheap

Excellent shock absorbers but not cheap. They are fully stretched so need to be squeezed to install. I used a pipe clamp and a small ratchet strap. It would also be nice to use a ratchet strap when removing the old ones. Not cheap but very good product. Costs money.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Weight

One fails after 30,000 km.

Worked well initially as a replacement for the Sachs shocks in the van but after 2 years and 30,000 miles on them the driver's side is about 1/2 inch lower and the rear is a bit erratic. On the other side, one has already been shot. This is with normal driving and no towing. Considering the price of the Revain, even if I have to buy another one of these I'll still be a little ahead of what the local auto parts stores wanted for the set.

  • Durability Type
Cons

Great Price - Shocks, Struts & Suspension

This is the best price I have found. I received two different production runs. One is made in the USA and the other in Mexico. Aside from minor cosmetic differences, they work the same way. With loads on board or when towing a trailer, they definitely do their job. Shock absorbers have greatly changed the ride and handling. Before I installed them, the rear tires would bounce around corners and spook me when cruising at freeway speeds, but that solved the problem.

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Nothing

Is it Monroe or Saks?

I saw some discussion before purchasing that the Monroe damper was actually made by Sachs and was just a Monroe redesign. Well I got my answer when it arrived. The shock was tagged with Monroe and Sachs (pictured above). They also look identical to stock Chrysler shocks, so it's safe to assume that Sachs makes shocks for Chrysler as well. As with the Nivomat shock absorbers, this solution turned out to be the most economical. The local auto parts store asked for $321 for the exact same damper…

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • Compatibility

Exact fit Note: Instructions error

Although expensive, here they are much cheaper than buying locally. They are an exact replacement for our 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan with the optional trailer pack. Since the new start, the left rear of our transporter always looks lower than the right when viewed from behind. The dealer replaced the spring under warranty but that didn't seem to help so I put up with it. After replacing the shock absorbers, the rear became flat. Please note that when replacing shock absorbers, the instructions…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Does not fit all
