Description of ๐Ÿ”ง 58628 Shock Absorber and Coil Spring Assembly by Monroe Shocks & Struts

REDUCES SAG UNDER LOAD -- Ideal for occasionally hauling or towing varying loads; heavy gauge, calibrated coil spring reduces sag when loaded up to 1,200 lbs. (capacity limited by suspension, tires and transmission; see owner's manual). EXCEPTIONAL HANDLING -- Tuned specifically for each application, full-displaced valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide ride consistency. CONSISTENT RIDE -- OE all-weather fluid contains special modifiers to handle extreme temperatures and PTFE-banded piston helps reduce friction between the piston and pressure tube to enhance responsiveness to changing road surfaces. LONGER SERVICE LIFE -- Self-lubricating fluid seal retains gas and reduces excessive friction against the piston rod to help reduce premature wear while heavy-duty nitrocarburized rod delivers long life. IMPROVES PERFORMANCE -- Nitrogen gas-charge maintains tire-to-road contact for improved ride and handling by reducing aeration and shock fade.

. a little to remove but new ones were easy to install

Installed them on my '97 F150, the old ones were a hassle to remove but the new ones were easy to install. I burn wood pellets and the pallet weighs 2000 pounds. With the old shocks the truck went lower and with the new shocks it went up about 3 inches. Excellent purchase!

Pros
  • REDUCES DEFLECTION UNDER LOAD โ€“ Ideal for occasional towing or towing a variety of loads; Oversized calibrated coil spring reduces sag when loaded up to 1200lbs. (Capacity limited by suspension, tires and transmission; see owner's manual)
Cons
  • Something wrong

Hard impacts. The reason I don't give them 5 stars is because they need to come compressed so they're easy to install. I had to use multiple jacks to install. Also, the back of the truck is now about 2 inches taller. I was hoping it would stay the standard height.

Pros
  • INCREASES PERFORMANCE - Nitrogen gas keeps the tire in contact with the road for improved ride and handling by reducing ventilation and cushioning impacts
Cons
  • Concerns me

All the pros, no cons, the best parts

I suggest stuck them to the back of a F150 2000 2wd that I use as a daily work truck. The truck has a frame with ladders and is typically loaded with around 800 pounds of tools and supplies. Too bad I didn't drive them 100,000 km. Now the truck drives smoothly and no longer sags. The installation required some ingenuity due to the spiral spring, but worked well.

Pros
  • LONG LIFE - Self-lubricating liquid seal retains gas and reduces excessive friction on the piston rod to reduce premature wear, while a reinforced nitrocarburized rod ensures long life
Cons
  • Good, but not great

Maintains the best ride with shock absorbers

shock absorber came as described. Installation was easy, except for pulling out the old ones. I bought them for extra assistance towing my 5 wheel RV. The problem was that they were going to and from Illinois and one of them blew up. Oil flows through the shock absorber. I called Monroe about the warranty and they said I needed to contact the seller. Well, the seller wasn't shocked. So now I'm stuck in the garbage.

Pros
  • SMOOTH RIDE - All-season OE fluid contains special modifiers for extreme temperature operation, and the PTFE-banded piston reduces friction between the piston and pressure tube to improve response to changing road surfaces
Cons
  • Style 90
