Morningstar Remote Meter: Enhancing Solar Controller & Inverter Performance Review

Great product, 'up to date' instructions and customer support! Morningstar aims to become the benchmark for solar systems.

Works well. Not quite "backlit" on the LCD, but sufficient for viewing. I wish he had data on the amps generated by the solar panels, but that's a bit finicky.

Plug and Play. I connected it to the Trackstar mmnp controller. This controller is 11 years old and was previously connected to an old analog amp. That's light years better than knowing the current voltage, temperature, current, and amp-hours. The long cable and surface mount are amazing.

Morningstar RM-1 arrived early and in perfect condition. It works as described in manuals RM-1 MS-ZMAN-RM01-A and SSMPPT MS-001178 v3.7, Counter Board SSMPPT.APP MS-ZMAN-RM03-B and SSMPPT Error and Alarm Codes. No surprises and it's more convenient for me than using MSView to query for the same options.

Now with my MorningStar SunSaver MPPT 15A solar controller. The data provided is very helpful and appears to be accurate. Once you become familiar with the menu structure, you will have a lot of technical data at your disposal. A 30 foot RJ-10 (6-pin) cable length is more than sufficient for most installations.
