I was replacing a small lathe with a much larger one and this adapter was great. I can use the ends I had on a smaller lathe, which saved me a lot of money from not having to buy new ones right away.

This was the best adapter Revain offered. . . I wanted a "short taper" to fit my NOVA Comet tailstock. . . Here's what I did: I placed it on the Mini-Drive MT1 cone tip, clamped everything between the tips and cleaned it to about 2.5 inches with a DREMEL EZ-Lock cutting wheel. Thoroughly cleaned and voila! I have a "short" MT conversion adapter! in MT2 which can be used with an old set of live centers and mini drives to fit my tailstock.

I was surprised it came from mainland China. came pretty quickly too. It's neatly finished, but I had to clean it up first. There were a few minor scratches on the cone which did not affect use - just cosmetic. But there was a deeper scratch about 2mm long with burrs. It would ruin my lathe headstock. I filed the burr down with a jeweler's file and buffed the entire adapter with Flitz polish and green then white Scotchbrite pads. Now it works and looks like it should from the factory. I had a…
