Exactly what I need for a CB500X shock

Makes the adjustment very easy, worth having a friend to help get the preload right but not difficult at all. good price. I just wish they would put them back into bike tool kits, but what can you do.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons

manufacturing defect?

The Motion Pro I received had excess metal removed resulting in a crooked tooth. Compare my photo with the promotional photo. Maybe a production error? Tools like this make it easy to adjust a dirt bike's preload, but once the tooth is bent, it becomes junk. I believe that if made properly the instrument will last for many years.

Tight but REALLY works on the ZX14R

Nothing special but works well. I had to "tap" on the wrench nuts as I was working on this alone and couldn't remove the weight from the back of the 2014 ZX14R as recommended. However, with patience I was able to do this slowly without damaging the rings or wrenches. Not a lot of room for torque, but they'll get the job done on the ZX14R.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Some issues

Reliable, works well - motorcycle and powersports

Heavy duty forged steel wrench that does what it takes. Not the most comfortable chest tool, but how often do you adjust the dampers? The size and angle work well - it's big so you're sure to run into bike/quad clearance issues if you don't have much access. I used it mainly to loosen the stop ring and then manually adjust it (lift the bike, take the weight off the wheel/shock) and then tighten it when done.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Not the best tool for the job

I used to use a MotionPro tool so I didn't hesitate to buy another one from MotionPro especially as this one came in 2 different sizes. I wanted to adjust the sag (preload) of the Ohlin shock on my 2014 Triumph Speed Triple R. The tool was too long to work in such a limited space. I had to remove a lot of stuff from the back of my bike to adjust the preload. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone looking to set sag/preload at triple speed.

Does what it should. Tool box element, not for underseat.

At 13 inches this tool isn't something you'll be carrying under your seat, but its length has the advantage of providing good leverage over compact tools. good angle of attack on the shock (which was in good shape), adjustment was quick with minimal effort. IMHO it's a bit overpriced for a piece of stamped hardened steel, but it's a custom/niche tool so I can't complain about it too much. Decent quality for DIY/mechanics. I would buy it again.

Pros
  • Hands-free
Cons
  • Very expensive

Badly Done at Motorcycles and Weightlifting

I don't usually rate tools, but this one requires it. My recommendation. Do not buy this tool. Bought because I needed to adjust the shocks on the quad. (I put them with the wheels off the ground so the loads are lighter.) The front shocks adjusted with some difficulty, but they flexed somewhere along the way before attempts were made to install the rear shocks. The thing is 3/16" steel, but I was able to bend it by hand? Damn, I'm strong. The only thing I can suggest is that the steel…
