These little sharpeners are ideal for making fire tinder. The fact that it comes in two sizes means you can turn almost any small twig into amazing tinder. I've even made great shavings out of oily woods that I wasn't sure would work. Since they are metal, nothing will phase them. They are great, just as described. I have to admit that I bought them for side 2 (smaller hole). I bought a package to give to children for distance learning in the form of pencils, there were fewer and fewer sharpeners in the house. This lasts us twice as long, if we continue to use an item whose #2 blade is getting too dull we can simply replace it with an unused blade.
