Looks good.: Car Audio Video Installation

Arrived on time and as described. This did not fix the stereo noise problem in my '79 Corvette with MSD EFI and 6AL. I have a small static sound that increases with the volume of the sound being played. Not sure what is causing this.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Small size and suitable for in-car AV installation

Works great in European vehicles to eliminate unwanted noise in aftermarket audio systems. It would be nice to have a slightly better mounting system (probably side mount) and slightly larger ports. For us shop folks, making something or adding a few washes isn't a problem, but weekend folks fixing their cars may require a visit to the store.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Clean

Noise reduced but not eliminated

I used this in my Camaro 72 Big Block. I recently had a defective OEM radio repaired. The condenser reduced the ignition noise problem but did not eliminate it. The sound is tolerable, but the noise is still there. Installation was easy: I used peephole connectors to connect the large power and ground wires to the capacitor's spade lugs. It comes with a rubber cap that slips over the ferrules to protect the hot wire.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

I am a professional auto and ship repair mechanic, I install.

I am a professional auto and marine mechanic. I install many MSD components. I'm shocked that these capacitor protection boxes, which they call filters, aren't installed or sold with an MSD box very often to protect the electronics inside the boxes from surges that damage the MSD electronics inside the boxes. I'm shocked they aren't sold as a set or option with MSD blocks.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Obsolete Model

Reduced a bit but not enough

Needed something to filter out the noise from the MSD 6A I installed in my 95 Mustang GT. Without any filtering, an ignition sound can be heard even with a key/door signal. Installed next to the 6A box, this capacitor eliminated this noise and also did a good job of filtering out the small noise that could be heard on the FM radio/CD. AM needs additional filtering, like the American International S-15A line filter, their antenna filter helps even more, but I don't think you can ever get rid of…

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
