Good Vacuum Breaker Water Valve

I bought this and another brand to replace the old blocks originally installed on our outer tubes. They were both leaking due to worn rubber washers. Unfortunately, they use a breakable screw that is permanently inserted into the threads of the faucet. I tried drilling out but it was difficult as the size is so small, I also removed some of the threads because the metal from the drill bit and the old parts get stuck when removing, luckily plenty of teflon tape sealed both damaged pipe threads…

Works as expected - Good price - Some other useful tips.

Works as expected. Good price compared to the hardware store. While they can be a nuisance, I recommend using them - 1) they help protect the integrity of the water supply and water pressure for everyone, and 2) they are required by law in many parts of the country. My old one was probably 14 and I had to use a Dremmel tool to loosen a rusty set screw (seen in a YouTube video). I have a lot of hard water in my throat sticking these things together. I didn't use a set screw on the new ones so I…

Check valve broken

Normally works but often starts spouting water endlessly. I went outside and found puddles of water everywhere because this thing was shooting water for hours. I connected it externally on one side of the Y connector for use with irrigation. If the pressure in my house's system changes too much, this thing shoots water. It could be from the other side of the Y, or even from the washing machine on the second floor. This thing starts shooting water and won't stop until I turn the water pressure…

The funny thing about this vacuum interrupter

The funny thing about this vacuum interrupter. It makes a "whistling" sound every time the hose nozzle is turned on and off. There is also a constant whistling noise when the water is flowing at low volume. This came as a surprise to me as no one else mentioned this "feature" in their reviews. My guess is that the whistling sound is caused by the rapid oscillating motion of the valve as it tries to respond to the low pressure in the hose by vibrating back and forth. I bought two of these and…

Makes whistles and squirts in my face but works well.

This is the first backflow preventer I've used but I do a lot of gardening and the hose is always connected to the outside so I took someone's advice and bought it. I didn't know and didn't expect that the strong water mist would be regularly expelled from the periphery of the valve and hit my face right after installation :D. I think that's how the backflow preventer works. I assume it relieves the built up pressure. I will say that after installing it, every time I flushed the toilet or…
