Mulberry Scarf Vimate Womans Package Review

I bought this scarf to protect my hair while sleeping. The description says it's 100% mulberry silk. Now I'm not a silk expert, but he definitely isn't. I certainly didn't expect the floral image to take up just one side of the scarf. The back is just white. Looks cheap and unfinished.

I have 2 simple elongated scarves, one black and one pink. They are very good although I didn't pay enough attention to the sizes and they were a bit wider than I wanted. However the seller was amazing as I returned the pink one and got my money back in just 2 days wow! Beautiful silk and they're gift wrapped, those cool envelopes that tie with a ribbon. Great item and great seller!

When it arrived, I was very excited. I wanted to repaint. I did the shibori technique, dipped it in diluted bleach and waited. Nothing, well. So I added more bleach and waited. Nothing. Then I thought, and knowing that silk is a protein I decided to try hair bleach. Hair is also a protein. Nothing happened with any of the bleaches I used. This is NOT 100% Mulberry Silk as advertised. This is a soft, shiny scarf, but you get what you pay for.

I should have seen from the price that it is not silk. However, it got such good reviews and no one said it wasn't silk so I decided to give it a try. I sew a lot for myself and alter a lot of things I buy on sale, so I'm very familiar with the materials and how they behave. Some may like this item, but it is absolutely not silk. You can see and feel that this is not silk and if you were so inclined I know for sure it would not survive the burn test. Shame on the manufacturer for misleading…

UPDATE: I TRIED THE BURN TEST on a blooming red floral print and it is actually NOT REAL SILK. I have not tried the burn test on the orchid print. I will not deny that I am still satisfied but I am let down by an unscrupulous seller. I wanted real silk, so my search must continue. I would still recommend this to my friends on a budget who don't care if it's real silk or not.
