The item was fully worn. I think they sold me a used pair. It would be unsuitable as a gift. The scissors are sharp, but the blades are often misaligned. I would return them if it wasn't for the severe pain.

These are good embroidery scissors for on the go - very compact and sharp so I can take out individual stitches if needed. I think they will even pass the TSA as they are under 4 inches! Update six months later: After moderate use in cross stitch, the gold plating on the scissors has worn off. They still work well, sharp, but I was a bit disappointed with the ruined finish.

It's weird that I leave a bad review but since you (Revane) keep asking about it. hands while the handles took on a strange metallic color. Also the blades had a noticeable gap in the middle when closed. I threw them away. Oddly enough, there was a similar pair made by another major brand. I got a set of these from WalMart and had no problems with them.

With these scissors I wish Revain had a zero star option. This is a good company that puts its mark on dollar store quality. I sent back the first pair because not only were they not sharp enough to cut thread but they had some chemical marks on the metal. They sent me another pair that were just as bad. I sent them back and got a zero dollar refund, seriously. I had to call to get my money back. I have no idea what it was. I would not recommend them to anyone for any reason.

UPDATE: I have other shears and have ordered another pair with this one. These are better. They're small, they're light. They are SHARP. They cut well. My daughter wanted embroidery scissors in the shape of a stork. These scissors are very cute and cut the thread perfectly. It doesn't cut fabric as well as my old (even ancient) peacock scissors, but if I remember correctly it cuts fabric better than my old stork scissors. I know these little stork shaped scissors are for sewing and they are great for that purpose. In my home, however, this sharp and cute little man finds many other uses. For me it replaces cuticle scissors for trimming fingernails and toenails as it cuts cleanly and never tarnishes.
