Good starter kit for beginners

Mungyo Soft Pastels was recommended to me by a very talented artist. The pastels are packaged in a beautiful wooden box and are available in a variety of colors. However, as I delved into pastels, I soon learned that these pastels are not as soft as most soft pastels and do not smear with them. But they are excellent teaching pastels and I find them very suitable for my underpainting. They do not clog the tooth of the paper and wash very well with alcohol. I'm still new to pastels so this is a…

Satisfies even a pastel snob

Those are colors! It seems that the masters of past centuries were able to mix gray colors to trick the eye into seeing real red, ultraviolet or fuchsia. I need real color, and I haven't often been able to get my work bright enough and saturated enough. These really inexpensive pastels satisfy the craving for real color. I can't tell where they were applied, where those that cost multiples of the cost of this set were planted. While I would never trade my Sennelier for any other brand, I'm not…

Beautiful soft pastel color

Okay, I wanted an oil pastel, my mistake. If you want oil pastels, this isn't it. These are 72 beautiful chalk pastels. This is a cross between soft pastel and nupastel. They can be processed very well and are practically free of chalk dust. The colors are bright and beautiful. I have two different boxes of Senneliers soft chalk crayons, 120 each, very dusty but very beautiful, I also have a box of 96 Prismacolor Nupastel, which are getting denser and denser. These are my new favourites. You…

ideal for beginners

I bought this because I thought it was oil pastels and they painted pastels. I have never tried this product and technique before but I was so impressed with it that I am now learning how to use it. That's how impressed I was with the product. My mistake made me learn from it. The product has a beautiful color palette, full body, and the pigment transfers very well to the paper (I'm using regular paper at the moment), it mixes very well with other colors. and when you touch it, the colors are…

Beautiful colours, great value

For art purposes there are 68 (or fewer) usable sticks in this beautiful color set. It comes with four fluorescent colors that fade. I bought a box of 36 last year, made a sample page, taped it to a south facing window and left it for three months. Mid purple pink (021) and magenta (022) faded to almost white. Violet (023) turned blue. I found a color chart for Mungyo's set of 200 handmade soft pastels online showing that they use PV3 purple pigment, which is rated as fair in terms of…
