My grandson is 9 and usually wears a size 10/12 in shorts and shirts. Due to the "tight fit" comment I ordered 14/16 and they were still too small. If the material didn't stretch, he couldn't even insert her. Disappointed but we had to send them back.

I guess I didn't read the reviews because I didn't know what to order. Size 8 fits like size 5. They seem to be of good quality and my small child can wear them so I didn't bother returning them. But be sure to order several sizes.

*Edit: My son is 10 and I increased the size because he is tall and they fit him perfectly. I wash and dry at the local laundry and they don't shrink. Not sure about the bad reviews here, maybe the drying settings made them shrink if they were too high or those saying they don't fit must consider the child's weight or height.
