They are transparent. They are easy to install. Just note that the hanging loops are not in the same position on every lampshade. They add a natural texture to my kitchen decor while creating a sense of privacy and filtering light. Valency will be added in the future to hide hardware.

I love these shades! You look beautiful! I wanted them in my room that needed light. I have always used curtains before but these are perfect! In the spring I want to buy a shade for the covered porch. If you're looking for more privacy, get something else. Again they are perfect! And they roll!

The plastic holding the cords in place broke on each of the lampshades (I bought 3 x 2 per lampshade = 6 broken pieces). It's good that there is an internal METAL part that you can tie a string to. The purpose of plastic is unclear, and with metal it is unnecessary. However, I had to lower and raise each lampshade and then tie it to the metal parts, which was tedious. For $33, I expect everything to be ready to use, especially if you're buying multiples

They are great on a budget. Better quality than I expected. They roll up and down easily, but you'll need to pat the end a bit to flatten it out. The colors are pleasant. Medium brown with thick light spots. Silver or gray thread. They come with fittings and simply hang from two small screws with hooks that match the umbrella fittings. We pushed the plastic pieces together because we didn't want to see them. Of the three shades, one piece of plastic fell apart but was easy to put back together.

We use this privacy screen on the deck as a windbreak and privacy screen. I love this shade. I got 72 x 72 and it turned out to be a lot heavier than I expected. Very durable and well made. Because of its weight, I decided to attach it with drywall screws instead of hooks. I've used hooks with lighter bamboo curtains and they work great. But that's a strong thing and I wanted more stability. The awning raises and lowers gently.
