The cleaning part of the sponge does not stick

The brown cleaning part of the sponge comes off fairly quickly, doesn't hold up well. On the other hand, I did not notice that this sponge is very easy to write on with mold.

I've had other similar sponges but this is by far the most durable, odor resistant and retains its cleaning properties. My dishwasher broke and I've been hand washing dishes for a family of four for a month and a half. SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. EVERY DAY! Other coconut scrubbers like this one already smell and turn an alarming gray. While this one isn't as white as it used to be (no wonder), it does NOT smell. Bravo for that

NOT 100% biodegradable, NOT compostable

These are good scrubbers and last for months [microwave (damp) for two minutes every other day to kill stink bacteria] but when coir starts to fall off see I add an unmentioned third layer of webbing that attaches the fibers to the cellulosic layer. That third layer of fiber looks suspiciously synthetic, and if it is, it's not composted. I will throw worn out sponges in the trash, and the natural parts will decompose in a landfill. I am disappointed to discover that this company is doing "green

This is not a scratch guard.

It looks nice but be aware that the rough side is NOT scratch resistant. I have a plastic coffee maker filter basket that has scratches on a once smooth surface.
