Easy to light and adust

Removed a 1964 gas log fire place display and put this in the fire place cavity to ensure safe heat for my 86 year old father in law. I showed him how to light it, relight it, and adjust and he loves it and is no longer afraid of getting monoxide gas poisoning from use of gas heat. The only thing I did not like was the supplied gas 90 degree elbow, so I used a top quality one purchased locally. I found the single battery ignitor very easy to install the battery and use. My mother in law will…

Pros
  • Es muy buen producto y fácil de instalar.
Cons
  • Can be noisy during operation

Mr. Heater vent free gas heater

Cost more to have it installed than it did for the heater. Having had the ceramic type gas heater before this one, I liked that one better. This has a small darkly colored glass front which makes it difficult to see if the pilot is on. It also blocks the heat from coming out the bottom or front so the floor stays cold much longer. Heat onl-y comes out the top.

Pros
  • Fuel Consumption/Burn Rate (Gal/Hr): .020 MCF
Cons
  • Can be difficult for some individuals to safely install themselves

Great heater and great company

The heater is really a lot better than the old one we got rid of (which no longer worked). The company that sold it to us was just the best- we got notice in 35 minutes after I ordered that it was on the way. Couldn't be happier.

Pros
  • Convenient push-button ignition for hassle-free starting
Cons
  • Can emit a noticeable smell when first turned on

Do not waste your money

When I got this, I did not expect to have problems with it. I also figured that if I did, they would be easily rectified. I did not set it up until after the return date. I got it all hooked up, and the pilot would light, but as soon as you let the button go, it went out. I messed with this thing for HOURS, wondering what I was doing wrong. the answer was nothing. It just would not stay lit. So then I looked to get it serviced. I even drove an hour to a place that the Mr. Heater site claimed…

Pros
  • Amazon's bestselling vent-free gas heater for several years running
Cons
  • Can be a fire hazard if not properly maintained over time

Smell Second unit on my review.

This is my second 20k heater. The first one had a bad control valve and would not shut the heater of completely when the thermostat kicked off. The flame would sputter when it was supposed to be off. It was brand new from market place. Mr. Heater was no help at all because they said the serial number was a little old. The new one from amazon works fine but the smell is uneasy and strong I tried the initial burn in/burn off at a 5 for a few hours but it still smells. Its not the smell of raw gas

Pros
  • Works well...definitely could use a fan
Cons
  • Requires regular maintenance to ensure safe operation

Make sure you buy one that's large enough for the area.

This heater really isn't large enough for the area I'm heating, My fault, but it does operate as it should. Can present additional maintenance expenses over time.

Pros
  • Heating, Cooling & Air Quality
Cons
  • Can present additional maintenance expenses over time

Really great heater!

We installed ours and it works great! We were able to turn our electric wall heaters off and just use this gas heater. It doesn’t have the heating plates in the back of it like the older gas heaters do, so we were a little confused at first when we got it. But it’s a great heater.

Pros
  • Heats up quickly, so you don't have to wait for warmth
Cons
  • May not last as long as other heating options

4.9 Stars. on my review.

Very happy with these heaters. I've purchased and installed 2 of the 20,000 BTU units. Both work great. I LOVE that they have made these able to be worked on. You can easily open them up and work on individual pieces. Most new heaters have gone away from this. They make it virtually impossible to work on their heaters, even going as far as pop-riviting them together to prevent access. The only reason I say 4.9 instead of 5 stars is because of the aluminum fitting at the bottom. Come on…

Pros
  • Home & Kitchen
Cons
  • Requires a stable supply of gas to operate consistently

It produces great heat!

This has been an excellent heater. Our heat pump struggles in the winter and it has been off ever since this heater arrived. It will heat the whole house by itself. I have a one level home with three bedrooms and two baths and every where is warmed by this heater that sits in the living room. No regrets. Grateful.

Pros
  • 20,000 BTU Natural Gas heater. Heats up to 700 square feet
Cons
  • Requires proper ventilation for safe use

Excellent quality in my review

Amazing Hester no problems literally took me two minutes to set up but that's because I had the hookup for gas line already it does not come with hookup or line. Works great no problems it doesn't leak if you do it right always use Teflon tape and no leaks after. I will be buying another my home is so warm an cozy thanks to this heater I get compliments on how cute it is with fire going

Pros
  • Easy to install. No issues.
Cons
  • Reliance on a non-renewable resource

Purchased this for my father to heat the basement of his home (about 900 sq feet). He has it on the lowest setting and it keeps the basement warm and also pushes the heat onto the next level keeping it warm as well. He said it was easy to install and loved that it hooked into the gas because my mother leaves electric heaters on in the house when no one is home and he wanted a safe alternative for heating the house.

Pros
  • Backed by positive customer reviews who praise its effectiveness, affordability, and ease of use
Cons
  • Can potentially raise the risk of gas explosions if there is a malfunction

Puts put an amazing amount of heat

Picked this up to replace a floor furnace in my moms house since she now has a granddaughter crawling around on the floor. This heater puts out more heat than the huge furnace. I like how it’s not just ig heat but actually "blowing” hot air. It had to be mounted in a relatively small hallway that connects all the rooms so the convection type heat is perfect. It also looks really cool and keeps with style of an older house.Would definitely recommend.

Pros
  • Love it . Kinda like having central heating.
Cons
  • May not be the most energy-efficient heating option

check building code first!

the heater itself seems fine, but I REALLY REALLY would've liked a heads-up regarding permit issues. I don't know if this is the same everywhere (I'm in Eugene, OR), but because this appliance uses combustion, and is ventless, the building codes do NOT allow it to be the only heat source.so after spending $2400 to get the gas lines installed, I learned the city requires an alternate heat source as well before they would issue the permit/give me a 'certificate of occupancy', so I ended up paying

Pros
  • Can be wall-mounted, freeing up floor space
Cons
  • May require additional safety measures, such as carbon monoxide detectors

Nice quality - solid

Nice quality - solid. Expansion and contraction from heating changes causes "ding sounds" from the metal. Nothing that bothers me - just sayin'.

Pros
  • Runs quietly, making it ideal for bedrooms and study areas
Cons
  • May not be the best option for those with small children or pets in the home

This heater works really well!

I bought this for my garage which is a typical garage and a half size but I do have a 10' ceiling. It will get my garage from about 40 deg. F to about 55 deg in about 40 mins. The install was easy and it's a quality heater.

Pros
  • Natural Gas Space Heaters
Cons
  • May exacerbate respiratory issues for those with pre-existing conditions
