Lots of fun to see monarchs evolve

I can't say anything about the durability as it has been in operation for about a month. I'd like one that's a bit larger as it's a hassle to get a container of water with milkweed sprouts inside and out - maybe a bit easier when they're in closed-top orchid tubes. As the caterpillars grow, they will eat a surprising amount of greens every day for a week or more. Before you begin, make sure you have an ample source of fresh raw materials, not just a small plant or two.

Pros
  • Easy-Open Hatch: The hinged door allows for easy access of insects, leaves, water and food.
Cons
  • There is a negative

Ideal for animal husbandry!

first let me say my 4 year old loved it! The day we received it he went "catch frogs" and caught about 3 or 4 frogs and put them here. It was ideal to accommodate them for a short time. BUT, don't do what I did and don't leave it outside with critters inside if you have stray cats in the neighborhood. I forgot to release the frogs, and the stray cats in the neighborhood easily broke through the screen and came to them. So be aware that this is not a protection against cats.

Pros
  • Portable size: 8.5 x 5.75 x 8 inches means it's ideal for home or classroom use. tribal toy!
Cons
  • protection

Fun and easy to use.

I bought some of these for my grandson. He loves and uses them all. I have many blue-bellied lizards in my yard and he has been catching them with his bare hands since he was a year old (he is 6 now). We even used one as a temporary nursing home for a wounded man he rescued. The mesh lets a lot of air through and is quite difficult to tear. Despite the rudeness of the children's treatment, only one snapped and the dog did. When summer comes I will need more as there were 6 caught on our best…

Pros
  • Safe insect surveillance: durable construction with mesh mesh and carrying handle.
Cons
  • Hard to say
