Neewer: simple, effective and inexpensive

I've been a Neewer fan for years. Great workmanship, good quality at a great price. This simple but effective tripod head is no exception.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Nice little ball head

Surprisingly well made for the price. I don't need a cold shoe, but it's easy to take off. I wouldn't buy it if I expect it to reliably support a full-size DSLR. Should be good for compact cameras and other light applications.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • High price

Solid build quality, easy to use.

This thing is solid. I bought this to mount the camera in odd positions on both my Gorillapod and AC mount and I have absolutely no fear of it failing. The materials feel very good. I've seen ones that cost twice as much and I don't think they will be of any more use. This mount is easy to use.

Not good enough to fix and hold position

The rated load of this ball head is much less than advertised. Even with Alan's key on, it doesn't lock well enough without slipping out of its intended position when the camera is off-axis. I'm a big fan of new hardware and have bought quite a few products, this was a disappointment to me.

Cons

Payload much less than advertised

Including the tripod head, my gear weighs 6.19 pounds. I expect my gear to weigh a maximum of 7.0 pounds over the course of development. With the equipment shown, I had to pull the balloon very tightly so it was pointing up, and that was at room temperature. This makes me wonder about the 17.6 pound payload. How did you understand? Maybe if the load is fully vertical? I lowered my rating even further after hearing how I felt about the seller's misinformation. The maximum load capacity of this…

  • Finally bought it
