That works great. in Computers and accessories

It is difficult to find an adapter with such performance at such a price from a well-known brand. I work with Linksys and D-Link in the networking space, but neither of them had the capabilities of the N 300 USB receiver for less than $10. I bought it for a Win7 64 PC that I hardly ever use to connect to the internet. However, it worked perfectly to download all 30+ required updates and was good for Netflix too. It's big and white, it doesn't look good on the black Coolermaster case, but Iโ€ฆ

Should be nicknamed the Netgear Turtle

Incredibly slow. Unless you put your computer right next to the router. But then it would defeat the purpose of a Wi-Fi adapter, right? I was blown away by how well it worked when I installed the latest drivers, but I was only two feet from the router. I parked my computer in the nearest (note: ten feet away) room, and lo and behold, the download speed dropped to a staggering 0.37 Mbps. I couldn't believe my eyes! In the end, my laptop, phone, and iPad (all tested at different times to avoidโ€ฆ

DO NOT BUY. in Computers and Accessories

Cheap but not worth the time wasted trying to get this thing to work with Windows 7+. If you don't sell this item for <$5, keep searching. To save you a few hours of trouble; You need to download the 3.1 update drivers for Windows 7. Finding them isn't easy, don't grab the first package the Netgear website offers you. Check the release notes - there should be something about a bug that caused the device to "hang". Make sure to install it before uninstalling before installing new drivers. Ifโ€ฆ

Not exactly Plug N Play but still worth it

I got this because I have a 10+ year old eMachine in my closet. I thought I'd retire it so my 4 and 5 year olds could use it for educational video games etc. - Not exactly Plun N Play - but I don't think it's an adapter issue - the old computer didn't have built-in WiFi. It works on XP. I think the operating system and the CD are faulty. The CD did not recognize the installation CD. I had to burn the disc to a flash drive from another (newer) computer so the old computer could recognize that Iโ€ฆ

I think she's happy with it

Beware of this adapter if you have Windows 7! I bought 3 of these to upgrade from the Belking adapters I had on 3 desktops. The drivers required for this are not downloaded automatically in Windows 7. I went to the Netgear website to download the drivers for Windows 7. I have read the installation instructions. My daughter did the install on her desktop, she said it was inconvenient and had some trouble with the install, but she did it. I think it suits her. I installed the software on aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Useless features

It is not compatible with 5GHz band, only 2.4GHz which is the most used band. But I use the faster 5GHz band for most of the devices in my house, so I was hoping it would be compatible. I had problems installing drivers. The driver disk that came with it didn't install the drivers properly on my old Windows 7 machine and kept giving me an error saying it couldn't be detected, even though I could clearly see that it was connected through Device Manager. Haven't tried installing on Windows 10โ€ฆ
