This thing is huge! I was hoping to find something that will allow you to strain a lot of jam and that will do the job very well.

Very high quality. Just look at the dimensions - it's quite large, making it a little tricky to pack in a typical eat-in kitchen.

I am a professional chef and my kitchen needed a decent porcelain lid and this one fits just right. This is a great size for straining everything from cans of #10 product to broths and installing a frying oil strainer. It is solidly made and the finer mesh catches most of the dirt. This is a great buy for this price.

This is actually a porcelain lid. After reading the description after receiving the item, the description remains incomprehensible. The extended notes say "stainless steel fine mesh" which is what I wanted. It may yet prove to be a useful tool in our kitchen, but it is NOT stainless steel mesh, it is perforated steel, which is not a "good" thing at all.
