My soulmate. Best in the Camera & Photo category

Yesterday I received my new D700. I use D40, D3000 and D90. I wanted the D700 for its quiet low light performance. I photograph events. Tried to decide between D700 and D7000. I pondered my decision for months. I've always wanted a D700 but started considering the D7000 because of the much lower price and number of lenses. The reviews have shaken me left and right, and I've never been closer to making a decision. I decided not to wait any longer and get the D7000, after all some reviews said it

Pros
  • Recording of images on CF I/II cards; compatible high-speed UDMA CF cards that offer write speeds of up to 35 megabytes per second
Cons
  • There are some nuances

MANDATORY for digital cameras

This review is intended for the serious or intermediate amateur photographer who has occasionally sold a photo or published his work in various media from time to time but does not make photography for a living . I've been using Nikon since 1954, both lenses and camera bodies. I spent most of my time with film, waiting for the digital results to come close to the quality of the Kodachrome etc that I wanted. digitally on a NIkon 8700 I bought a D200 but as a cameraman I found its limitations a…

Instant Classic - Digital Cameras

Update from 04/01/13. It's been almost a year and this camera still lives up to my expectations. I've shot a variety of subjects from sports to the studio to the street and he hasn't let me down. I recently did a car shoot and some night time street photos here in Austin during SXSW with amazing results. With the money saved (compared to buying the D800) I was able to add other photo gear such as a studio flash, light modifiers and an AMAZING Nikon 85mm f/1.8 AFS. Over time I'd like to add a…

Pros
  • 12.1 megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor (23.9 x 36 mm); Case only
Cons
  • So far so good

Finally, I like the number.

I've been trying for years to experience the feeling I've had shooting Ektachrome and Kodachrome. Especially printing on Ilford Pearl paper. Somehow my D200 and D300 (not to mention my $1,000,995) always failed and I tried to compensate by shooting HDR exposures. It was a real joke to shoot nine pictures at a time during the photo tours I've been on. The first few days after buying this camera I was shooting with a group on the Chicago River. This was the bridge's final lift to allow people to…
