I was surprised by the quality for the price.

Prior to that, I shot on the D80 for 8 years, assembled a fleet of FF lenses and planned to switch to full frame. But Nikon could not offer an adequate FF. either a bunch of megapixels, or weak AF. Or an amateur device with a large matrix . And then suddenly the D500 came out, I did not expect it and did not follow the news on this market. Autofocus, swivel screen, rate of fire, moisture protection. Portrait photography is not the main indicator, but the focus on sports and photography of wild…

Pros
  • Speed, ease of use, body ergonomics, touch screen, button illumination. Focusing is lightning fast. I have fairly large hands and small cameras such as the D7100 bkb D610 are extremely inconvenient for me.
Cons
  • Issues with the snapbridge app. If you do not turn off WI FI or Bluetooth, then it will quickly land the battery. XQD cards cost like a good used DSLR. It would be better if there was a choice of slots like on D5. I don’t know what the catch is, but the connection with the smartphone "xiaomi redmi not 3 pro" is constantly disconnected. At the stage of acquaintance, everything was fine, the pictures were transferred to the smartphone via WI FI and bluetooth, but after a while they stopped connecting via WI FI, neither camera control, nor image transfer . I send 2MP pictures to my smartphone via bluetooth.

Everything about the product satisfied me, the price is perfect.

The choice was between the D500 and the D810. I read a lot and became convinced that the dynamic range is no worse than that of the D810. I did not see any other advantages of the current full-frame cameras. I didn't want to wait for the D810 ate. Depth of field, more than, paired with Sigma AF 50-150mm f / 2.8 APO EX DC OS HSM. I wanted to keep the D300s as a second camera, but when I started comparing the D500 I didn’t want to let go . the speed and accuracy of autofocus is higher, the white…

Pros
  • auto white balance struck with accuracy, a folding touch screen, autofocus speed, in comparison with the D300s, it became a little easier and more convenient to set up. Added spot metering for bright areas (a performing artist in the world, for example). It helps a lot when shooting in a bar, when a person is illuminated by spotlights . I haven’t finished reading the primer yet . The body has become larger - more grippy .
Cons
  • the feeling that the case on the D300s was made of harder plastic . or maybe it seems .

Excellent product, the best quality.

Despite the shortcomings, I really like the camera. I already have quite a lot of experience with Nikon cameras. There was D3000, D300, D750, D4 and actually D500. Now I have 500 and 750 in my arsenal. But still I like the 500 much more. She's faster, more predictable. The D750 is still ff, a more creative camera. But in terms of speed and convenience, it sharply loses to the D500. In general, if you want a reliable camera, then take it. Won't let you down!

Pros
  • 1) Autonomy of work at height. On a single battery charge, you can shoot more than 1200 frames at a leisurely pace. 2) Autofocus speed and accuracy! Usually when I sort photos, some frames often get into the "marriage" because they are out of focus. Immediately, the percentage of misses is so low that only a few get into marriage (and as a rule this is my cant) 3) Ergonomics. Everything convenient at your fingertips. No need to fiddle with settings. Top display, tons of customizable buttons + quick menu = all functions are always at hand. 4) Map XQD (it is also a minus). But this card is GORGEOUS! When you shoot on it, you just forget what a buffer is. For example, a bride is spinning in a dress, you do burst shooting, and then you look. did anything good happen in this series. The camera instantly saves everything and when you look at the frames, there are no sublags. Moreover, it doesn’t matter if it’s a series of 5 frames or 30. Everything flies onto the card so quickly that you don’t even have time to shoot. 5) Folding + touch screen. It's comfortable. In general, the screen is very solid. It is always clear whether the exposure is correct, whether it is in focus, what is obtained in terms of colors. Yes, and from the top-bottom point it is very convenient to shoot. It is a pity, of course, that the screen does not rotate sideways, but I think this would greatly reduce the strength of the structure. 6) Camera body and dust and moisture protection. With such a camera, you can shoot in the rain and not worry about getting wet. I saw people who are directly afraid to get a camera even in a drizzle. Then just scored and shoot in any weather! 7) Video 4k. If you shoot in full HD, then an electronic video stabilizer is available, which by the way is not even bad. In fact, the camera has a huge number of pluses. For example, I have never regretted that I chose her.
Cons
  • 1) XQD Map! This is a rare format of memory cards, and in general they are expensive. Logic, using 2 types of memory cards (XQD and SD) is very stupid. Since it is difficult to guess which cards to take how much. 2) The camera is very expensive for a crop. For the same money you can buy a good FF. 3) The presence of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is not really necessary. Applications for the camera are so crooked that they can not be used. Is it to indulge. 4) Video. It seems that the quality of the video itself is good, but there is no focus picking and other necessary goodies for video operators. As a result, shooting a video is simply inconvenient. 5) No flash. Yes, a dubious minus, but there are times when external flashes (monoblocks) need to be set on fire with an impulse, but there is no such possibility in the camera. Always carry an external flash with you.

Full compliance with the manufacturers assurances, high quality.

My experience is limited to shooting wildlife in camping style. This is one of the niches for the camera. If you shoot animals or sports - the camera should suit you 100%. Of course, if you do not need a full frame. I have never regretted that I took the D500, and not the D7200 or D7500. In terms of technical characteristics, it surpasses all junior models. And the icing on the cake is the customization of controls, which I already mentioned. Yes, a gourmet thing, but I really liked it.

Pros
  • - Focusing (phase) - the focusing module remains the best among Nikon cameras even for the first quarter of the 19th year - Shooting speed (10 fps) - Buffer for 200 frames (when using XQD card). With SD card about 70 - Controls. This is a separate issue. Firstly, there are more buttons on the D500 than on other Nikon crops. Here it is on par with the D850 Secondly, and most importantly, the camera supports significant customization of controls. A later model, the "little brother" of the camera - the D7500 does not have the ability to assign the selection of a specific AF area mode to a button. The D500 has such an opportunity. That is, you can hold down one button and the camera will switch from the spot AF mode, for example, to the "dynamic, 25 points" mode. Let go - and again "one point". I REALLY like this feature. In shooting wild animals is simply irreplaceable. Especially when you shoot birds that can suddenly take off. I remember with horror the time when this was not the case in my cell. I must say that this function (in my opinion) is artificially "not reported" to cheaper carcasses for marketing reasons. After all, this is a purely software solution that is already ready. Unfortunately. But I repeat - this is one of the most useful innovations regarding the "five thousandth" and "seven thousandth" series! The buttons can be conveniently configured for one-handed use. When a super telephoto is attached to the carcass, this is very handy - Joystick to select AF points - Viewfinder is bright and full coverage - Swivel touch screen. Although I forget that it is touch, but sometimes I use it - Fits well in the hand - Moisture and dust protection. A very useful feature when you have to literally crawl through wet grass and dry steppes for a good shot.
Cons
  • - Focusing in Live View mode is not much different from amateur Nikon cameras - Inconvenient connector for the "cable" (remote). It is difficult to quickly connect, but for that there is a screw-on "nut"

A practical product, nothing to complain about.

The camera costs several times more than my d3200, which I owned for 7 years. And after 7 years, the crop remained a crop. The detailing of the d500 with the smallest lack of lighting is no higher than that of the d3200, the d500 is just as noisy. Tollo noise reduction has improved, but the detailing has not grown from this, but even vice versa. Shumadav of course removes color noise, but too much and the photos become blurry. In general, the detailing of the d500 is even slightly lower…

Pros
  • The battery ran out at the end of the wedding day. Maybe, if you save it, it would be enough for the whole day. Colors. Delighted with color. Sometimes you don't even want to touch the source code. The colors are nice and warm. That's dynamic range. Autofocus. In general, in every detail of the camera, in every function, you can see the maximum quality at the present time. - This is a TOP crop, it has the best technologies, but there is one BUT.
Cons
  • It's CROP! And all the ensuing. Don't expect miracles. You can't argue with physics!

The best thing for the money, I'm glad I chose this option.

I wanted to sell and buy 850. But I carefully looked at the comparison of pictures of these cameras. 500 is not worse even at ISO 6400. You just need to set the Standard and shoot in RAW. This is a D700 and "bricks" like D3s give out a ready-made jeep "on the mountain" "piping hot" . The Sigma 17-50 2.8 lens came up. The picture is sharp. Also Tamron 24-70 2.8 is great, shot by me from the D700 camera. The verdict is a camera for those who shoot dynamics - sports, cars, children's games, flying

Pros
  • I shoot sports - athletics. Took a pair for D3s. Nikon D500 has incredibly tenacious autofocus. Huge buffer margin, which is impossible to fill even when shooting 10 frames per second at max RAW + jpg size. The battery perfectly holds 2 hours with 1000 shots. Filmed a 10km race 2 days ago. Shot 1000 frames. The battery is holding. 2 memory cards. Even with an SD card, the Ravami-filled buffer still runs at 1 frame per second. Buttons glow in the dark. Very nice and comfortable. The screen is bright and juicy picture and O miracle - leans back! Sturdy, powerful body. Main advantage - Autofocus. Doesn't miss at all. People run at you in a group - speed 10 frames - all frames are in focus, where the AF point is. This can only be achieved on "bricks" . And this is a crop. The video shoots great. But, of course, there is no AF speed, everything is slow, as if it were a 1990 VHS video camera. There is a microphone input. Everything is working. There are also microphone settings.
Cons
  • Lying with exposure. It does not level the picture like 700 or even Olympus twice crop. Overexposure on the forehead constantly. It is treated with aperture 8. But if there is little light, nothing can be done. When developing DRL, the default red looks sometimes poisonous and repulsive. And yes, the camera is "big, black and heavy." Not for women's hands.
