The AF function is not compatible.

The compatibility list was enabled and my camera was on it but the lens could not focus. Before returning the lens, I asked the seller for advice. His response was to check my settings. I've been using the camera for 7-8 years now, so I know when it's not working.

Pros
  • I have my fingers crossed
Cons
  • Sad hardware

Best test your camera in Camera lenses

I have a Nikon D5000 and they said this lens would work with my camera, it doesn't. The error code says the lens will not attach when I set it to any photo mode. Make sure you test your camera first before buying any gear online, just because they say it's compatible or suitable with your camera doesn't mean it is.

Pros
  • Looking forward to
Cons
  • Slightly dented

What has changed? on Camera & Photo

I like this lens. I use it every day and my first one lasted a long time despite the amount of crap I made with it. I bought this "used" and I really like it. I think it might be new but I don't know. I had no problems with that. Update: I bought a second one after my first lens broke. This one isn't nearly as reliable as the first one bought here. The autofocus stopped working after about a day. So disappointing.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons

It looks like it was pulled out of a cereal box

This lens is NOT compatible with the Nikon D60! According to Nikon Tech Support, no firmware updates are planned either! The compatibility of this lens is poorly documented! After handling the lens, it became clear that this lens is 100% pure plastic and clearly not worth the money spent on the materials used in its construction. It feels like something fell out of a cereal box! I would hate Nikon except that all camera manufacturers do this. Don't waste your money, find a new hobby!

Pros
  • Well made
Cons
  • Obsolete model

The 18-55mm AF-P VR is a big step forward

The new Nikon 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 DX VR lens is here! Conclusion: I love this lens. The auto focus speed has improved in still image recording (PDAF) and in movie recording (Live View/CDAF) the focusing speed has improved significantly! This lens is a keeper. I ran some tests and the lens worked fine. The lens focuses very quickly and accurately with very little electronic autofocus noise. Autofocus audio is picked up by the internal microphones, but is quiet enough not to be a problem in normal…

Totally silent autofocus.

This is an amazing lens. I have a used lens that appears to be well used but was in excellent condition so I got a good deal. I would recommend getting a new version of this lens because it is very beautiful and absolutely silent! And it's the same size as a regular kit lens, not heavier or longer. I wish someone would have told me that many years ago. I don't understand why nobody said anything about the difference between AF-S and AF-P. An AF-S lens is utterly useless for video as it has a…
