Experience for lenses

I have a Nikon D5100. Although this converter fitted my camera, it didn't take any pictures. I would compose the frame, the shutter would work, but there would be no frame, just blackness.

Do not buy if you have a Nikon D3000

I wanted this to work. oh how i did. I liked the size and the weight. the fact that it was a Nikon brand. Unfortunately, my camera kept reporting the message "Lens not connected". Researching online I've tried to get around this by just shooting in manual mode (which I prefer) which removed the error message, but I never managed to get anything other than black frames when I tried to take pictures with it, although I've tried it at different light intensities.

Works great if you know what you're doing

This does what it says on the tin ie it doubles the length of your lens. But the price is 2 feet and the lack of autofocus. For most fans, that's not very good. If you're semi-pro or better and know what it is and how to use it, this is a good deal. If you're a casual DSLR user, stay away from this device and just buy a longer VR (Vibration Reduction) lens to get a clearer shot. There are teleconverters that support autofocus, but they're much more expensive and only work with Nikon's…

Bargain for good equipment

Good. I'll say what another experienced photographer said. That's a very, very good deal for very good gear if you know what you're doing. I'm a professional rodeo photographer and have been focusing manually since the cinema days. I say that because you have to manually control the camera (aperture and shutter speed) when manually focusing this lens. Anyone who can manually control the triangle of ISO, aperture, shutter speed and focus will love this teleconverter. If you're good at problem…
