Description of 📱 Nite Ize STF-01-R7 Steelie FreeMount Bracket - Enhancing Steelie Magnetic Phone Mounting Systems Black - Add-on FreeMount

PHONE BRACKET COMPATIBLE WITH STEELIE PHONE MOUNTING SYSTEMS - When secured in the FreeMount Bracket, your device can magnetically attach to Steelie Mounts like the Dash Mount, Windshield Mount, Vent Mount, or Tabletop Stand (sold separately). NO ATTACHED MAGNETS - The FreeMount version of Steelie's magnetic mounting system has no magnets attached directly to your phone, allowing multiple devices to use the bracket, and to remain compatible with inductive chargers when not using the FreeMount. UNIVERSAL, ADJUSTABLE BRACKET FOR PHONES WITH OR WITHOUT A CASE - The adjustable FreeMount Bracket fits most any Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, or other phone measuring 2.24" - 3.54" | 57mm - 90mm wide. ADJUSTABLE VIEWING ANGLES - The Magnetic Socket on the FreeMount Bracket articulates with the steel ball on all Steelie Mounts allowing you to tilt your phone smoothly from landscape to portrait and everywhere in between. SAFE FOR USE WITH PHONES - The powerful magnet will NOT damage your mobile device. It can also be paired with GPS and MP3 devices. However, do not place it near magnetically sensitive objects such as credit cards, computer hard drives, or pacemakers

No damn magnets or metal plates on my phone!

Finally I don't have to attach a magnet directly to my phone case, nor do I have to attach any smelly metal plates to it! I've had a Steelie mount for a long time and I'm happy with it, but since I switched to wireless charging with my Samsung, I've had a really hard time attaching a magnet to my phone. This mount keeps the magnet in the car on the mount and on my phone and I can take it with me when I need a magnet to attach my phone somewhere outside the car. I wasted a lot of time developing

The mount itself is an ephemeral item.

I have an iPhone 7. I originally purchased this free mount late last year. Less than 3 months later the bracket broke with normal use (back and forth to work). I figured. It must be an accident. So I bought another Nite Ize mount from Revain. Sorry but this mount hasn't worked for the last 2 months! I have many other Nite Ize products. So I knew I was buying something "high quality". Although it's a good idea. This is NOT a durable product. I ended up installing a Nite Ize Stealie Magnet phone…

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Crumpled

As mentioned, they are poorly constructed. Internal clamping mechanisms break quickly. I bought two (2) of these in December 2016 for my vehicles. Both staples broke within the first year. Maybe even in the first 6-8 months. I just contacted Nite Ize while looking for a new product and I remember being annoyed that I was spending $20 a piece and these things broke so quickly. They just seem poorly made with internal plastic parts that just won't hold up with normal use. Not even consumer abuse.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Outdated model

Great adjustable phone holder

This is the second one I've bought. I bought my first one from a Verizon store a few years ago and somehow the part that was supposed to fit your phone snugly (the adjustable part) got stuck and I couldn't get it to squeeze it tighter to fit mine to hold phone. My son tried to take it apart to fix it but it didn't work. So I ordered another one, I hope this one will last longer. But I took a lot with me on my first one. I love that it's adjustable and has an open bezel so I can plug my phone…

Max'd with Note 21 Ultra in the Defender case

I give this mount three stars because it's very well made but not great for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in the Otterbox Defender case. A year ago, in response to a question, customer service said the spread of the mount is 4 inches, and at "real" 4 inches it will work fine with my phone, but that size is between the hard plastic ends. The spread between the soft rubber cushioning material on the end bracket surfaces is much smaller. Note 20 with a Defender case needs to "wedge” into soft "teeth”…

Repeated rejections over 21 months (as of March 13, 2017)

First off, I love Nite Ize products and the Steelie line in general. Most of these products work perfectly. The only exception was FreeMount. I actually bought 2 (1 for my car, one for travel) as my phone has Qi wireless charging. My wife's iPhone doesn't work so she doesn't usually use FreeMounts and has a steelie on the back of her phone case. I planned on keeping one FreeMount in my travel bag and the other in the car. I've experienced failures about every 4-6 months with my everyday mount…

Terrible, but it can be fixed. (Manual)

The dumbest phone holder design ever. To do this, you have to press a lever to open the side handles. I would prefer the product to close on my device. But someone probably has a patent on it, so Styles had to do something else. SOLUTION Open: Using a small screwdriver, unscrew the four screws and open the panel. Remove the center gear and two levers. Remove and discard the lever and rod spring. Reverse Spring: Using pliers, VERY CAREFULLY bend the bottom spring hook up (just twist it up) and…
