Well designed and works great

Well made and perfect for making a custom antenna. I replaced the stock antenna for my ADS-B receiver with a custom antenna made from copper rods and this matching transformer. The result exceeded all my expectations. My system has grown from 1500 location reports per day to over 80,000! 50x improvement. This increased the reception range from less than 80 km to over 400 km.

I was surprised at how much this product improved reception.

I had a 100 foot wire antenna that I used to receive shortwave and although I received more than my pl-880's built in antenna it was still much less effective than I expected. I know this isn't a common application, but I placed the balun in a waterproof T-box, attached one side to a long wire and the other to a ground rod, and suddenly my reception improved dramatically. This is a great inexpensive way to boost your hearing antenna.

Pros
  • That's great
Cons
  • I'll be silent

Great companion for my FT-817

This little balun is way better than my Miracle Whip at low range for everyday SWL and with 40ft of wire only 3ft I'm fine. Simply holding the 817 or a short ground wire will do. Very low noise level. Recommendation for SDR. I like the fact that I don't have to set it up. The packaging is excellent, the clips hold quite firmly. You can always add a little support with tape. Thanks to the supplier and all the helpful feedback that made set up easy. K3GK

Because some other reviewers said it is indeed Unun.

Since some other reviewers said it was indeed Unun, I took a good look at it. This is a balun as described and documented in the diagram on the company's website. Since I was using this on a long wire antenna I did the following: I cut the trace on the underside of the board that connects the center pin of the antenna side of the transformer to ground on the SMA connector. Then I put the wire through the hole next to Max +28 dBm and soldered it. This wire was connected to the ground wire, which

Cut the track if using this with a long wire.

. This worked really well but I wanted to try and compare the antenna with a random/long wire. I use 100 feet of wire with a 40 foot counterweight. To power the end feeder cable you need UNUN. From the factory it is a balun (a 9:1 balun is used with a +400 ohm dipole conductor line) but it can easily be converted to non-Un. You just need to cut a small trace on the back of the board. It's going to be pretty obvious what I'm talking about when you look at this thing, because it's just one. Then…

Thing works - Accessories and consumables

Thing works. But I live in the suburbs and only have room in my backyard for a 35 foot wire. I attached it to the roof panel at 20 feet and to my wall at the bottom about 4.5 feet off the ground so with insulators. I use it with a standard RG-6 cable, a TV coaxial cable with an adapter, a layer of aluminum foil and a layer of braided wire for the screen. grounded screen. Copper inner conductor. Orientation north-northeast, in southern Arizona. I'm thinking of trimming the long wire to keep it…

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • No Automatic

One side to the wire, the other to the ground. Which of?

Interesting hardware to use any length cable with SDR-RTL, but that's not all. First, it's not technically a BALUN (Balanced-Unbalanced Line Transformer) but a UNUN (Unbalanced-Unbalanced Line Transformer). ) The image I've added shows the standard UNUN 9:1 schematic. You'll notice a few things about it. First, how SMALL the NooElec block is. Second, one side - unbalanced - has twice as much resistance as the side facing the ground. Is it important. Your SWR will be lower when properly…

  • Easy installation

  • Other interesting options are available.
