These thermometers work great and are very easy to see when the desired temperature has been reached. They are made of high quality materials and are very easy to clean.

No disadvantages so far. I've been using TS for two years with no problems. No fogging of the lenses and no ingress of water. Considering he was tossed in the kitchen drawer along with a bunch of metal tools, I'm surprised he lived this long.

Discard after several uses. Worked great the first time and now reads low. Checked with another thermometer in hot water. The reading is 20 degrees lower. I can't find how to set it up. Too bad - I love Norpro products!

I can cook anything but fry without killing it. For my budget, the Norpro 5971 did what it promised, so I have to give it 5 stars. It's not fancy and needs to be looked at, but it does the job and delivers. I made my first large roast with just the right amount of pink in the center. Everyone enjoyed it and walked on for a few seconds.

When my trusty Taylor meat thermometer died, I was dismayed to learn that it had been discontinued and no longer available. Then I discovered the Norpro device. I bought two. and many months later I am still very happy with my purchase. So true. easy to clean. and most importantly, norpro works great.

I like the Norpro 5971 thermometer because it works up to 190 degrees Celsius. However, it is very large and falls out of many foods due to its weight. If you need a large analog thermometer, this is the right choice. If you're looking for something to leave in a meatloaf (or something similar), this might be too much.
