A handy kitchen tool on the Kitchen & Dining page

I use this little strainer for a variety of things. I pour in the custard to get rid of the lumps. I use lemon juice, raspberry puree, and other liquid/fruit purees to make homemade pulp-free drinks. It's not very big, but it's good for small jobs. I also like being able to throw it in the dishwasher. I'm not a fan of hand washing and I don't typically buy products that require special care, like clothes with long lists of care labels. The simpler the better. This tool is definitely useful and…

Pros
  • Colanders and food strainers
Cons
  • Not bad

Great 4 inch strainer!

Bought to sift coffee beans from a French Press to throw down the drain. Strainer, add some water to the soil in the jar, pour the soil into the strainer, and then the strainer can sit on the rim of the jar (for excess drainage) to fill into the bin and discard. Extremely durable, appears to be much better made than my previous strainer, fits perfectly in the dishwasher rack for cleaning and best of all, minimal waste in the sink drain.

Pros
  • Kitchen utensils and equipment
Cons
  • Sad equipment

Chris R. said the inspection made the welds suspicious.

and it was a good eye to notice a possible problem that will eventually arise. This item is made of stainless steel. should last the "lifespan" of normal home use! After 13 months, the weld on one side of the handle came loose. Who knows how long this colander will last with one side of the handle taking all the weight of use. Now the usage seems odd, and it's a matter of "trust" in the safety of what fits in the strainer (keeps over the sink) when drained. Is your food threatened by recycling?

Pros
  • Home and Kitchen
Cons
  • There are flaws
