Connection problems

Bought this remote about a month ago. I have been using NVK products for many years and have never had a problem. I'm having trouble pairing the remote with the collars I already have. Followed directions accordingly and still no luck. Are there alternatives?

Excellent remote control, bought to replace one left out in the rain. It was a bit difficult to program existing collars.
