USE: NYOrtho Gait Belts allow for safe handling and mobility of elderly or weak jointed patients. Gait Belts help caregivers provide support and prevent falls. The NYOrtho gait belts also protect caregivers' back and reduce risk of back injury while assisting the patient. EASY CLIP ON AND OFF BUCKLE: Delrin (plastic) buckles allow for safe hold and easy clip on and off. Also available with a durable nickel-plated buckle. INSTRUCTIONS: Place belt around patient’s waist with the buckle in the center of patient's waist. To fasten gait belt, simply clip the plastic buckle closed. Pull at the metal tipped end to tighten around the waist and to ensure fasten securement. MACHINE WASHABLE: The NYOrtho Gait Belts can be machine washed on lukewarm setting and dried on low to maintain pristine condition. VERY long! - my new review

It is very sturdy but also very long - I am not a tiny person and the belt when worn around my waist during the day, for ease of access, tended to be too long - get in the way long.but if you have a large resident/patient it would be super easy to use on him/her without worrying if it fit.not needed for most I think.

Metal buckle on backwards, very stiff

As the title says. Generally the toothed part of the buckle faces in a direction so the seamed inside of the belt won't show. This one's on backwards. It also came so stiff that it was nearly unusable for the first couple weeks.

  • The color helps to find it. Stays locked in place. Works like it is suppose to.
Cons
  • This belt slips. Buy metal ones to keep your loved ones safe!

Excellent Quality in my review

The quality of the material is excellent, the metal buckle is securely attached and the metal tip will ensure the material does not fray with continual use. This is an attractive and durable belt.

Very sturdy belt for my opinion

I recently bought a gait belt from another company, and when it arrived, it was very thin and lightweight. I was very pleased when this one arrived. It is very heavy duty, which is what you need for long term use with a disabled adult. I am very pleased.

Added Safety & Convenience to Family Caregiving

Caregiving for our tall, ever more unpredictable dementing mother, we depended on personal research to prepare for her increasing needs. I bought this belt for 1/3 of current listed price & found it extremely useful, especially after having read all the reviews. Now caregiving again, (Apparently, I have a knack) I've been exploring what might be useful for current circumstances, but find current price egregious.
