Pretty big and serves it's purpose

What I expected and what it actually is are two different things. It's quite large even for my 8 inch speakers. I really wish there was a way to tighten the perimeter of the speaker to make it feel more secure. Also, no cables can be run from them if you want to. It works decently, but don't expect miracles from it, and don't expect it to 100 per cent protect your attic speakers from dust and other things, as there's always a spot you can get through.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Easy to install, but that's about it.

I wanted this to protect a very expensive 3.5" ceiling speaker in the master bathroom with insulation/loft upstairs. This cover rolls up like a bandsaw blade and fits a 3.5" hole. quite easy. It is very thin and does NOT fit like the photo. It hangs around the speaker but helps maintain isolation. Felt insulation becomes more difficult as this cover lacks structural integrity. Atlas basically makes a recessed lantern cover in various sizes of metal for about $25.

Pros
  • Great Value
Cons
  • Expensive Insurance

Not bad with some extra insurance

Not bad with some extra insurance. as previous users have said, leaving them in place is not a good idea. In my case, the spring washer that forms the hole in the lid actually hits the bar on both sides, so it helps in that aspect, but it's not a perfect seal. I think that's the case for most. I suspect they are actually meant to have insulation over them once the installation is complete. In my setup, the cover had insulation surrounding the sides, then I added another piece of insulation to…

  • Consistent test results

  • Not bad

Required for installing ceiling speakers!

This is a fantastic product. I didn't actually put my speakers in, but put them in the speaker hole in my ceiling where they then formed a barrier completely preventing dust and insulation from entering. Before laying it in the ceiling I made a small hole through which I routed the speaker wire. I would like to take a picture before the speaker installation is complete but I didn't. If in the future I have to remove the speaker for any reason, this will keep the insulation and dust from falling
