Oil Lamp Mate Lantern Stitch Review

The wick can burn out quickly when the lamp is low in oil and the wick burns dry. There's no problem with this replacement - just cut a new piece and put the lamp back in place and you'll have enough for another 10 years.

I noticed that many reviews were surprised at how thin this wick was and thought maybe they just ordered the wrong size. Surprise, this wick really isn't the advertised 1/2 inch and it's MADE IN CHINA.

Very disappointed with it. It burns like paper and leaves a really burned "stick" which makes me very nervous. They also constantly hit the oil lamp with the teeth of the wheel. Didn't realize I had to do some research to buy a wick, but apparently they can be poorly made and not work, so.

There seem to be two sizes of wick (both very well made): red and blue. Our lanterns were made in Czechoslovakia in the 90s. The red ones were a little big, but the blue ones were just right. Your mileage may vary.

This is a bad product. Burns very fast and very hot. I've had other wicks like this one and they burn slowly and properly. This one blows an inch of fuse in less than 5 minutes. It will continue to be very hot even after blowing. So hot that the wick continued to glow even after the fire had gone out. Do not ingest this product. Find a better one.
