I installed it and 2 codes came up. At first I did not expect that the new Parr would be defective. But after replacing other parts I did a vacuum test on the valve and the old valve and it turned out that the problem was with the new valve I bought. I should have checked it out when I first bought it. If you buy this valve test it before installing as I wasted my money buying this part. Buy OEM, not this part.

I understand the seller site does not specifically list the 1999 E36 323i as a direct replacement BUT it does list this part with the same BMW part number that is used in my machine. In my case, after installing it on the exhaust manifold, the hose connection is pointing in the wrong direction. I was able to get it working with some modifications, but the part doesn't match the BMW part number given in the description, or BMW lists the wrong part number.

This part seems to fit, replaced the original secondary air check valve on my e46. My SES caught fire due to a bad check valve. This part came with a metal gasket just like the OEM part, not the foil/paper gasket that I've seen on other replacement parts. I still have the SES light, but I need to replace the check valve solenoid. BMW Achilles Heal is a secondary air system and it looks like all 3 components will eventually need to be replaced. Secondary air pump, check valve and solenoid valve.
