Replacement for a broken lens

I knew the capabilities of the lens in advance because I had it with a handle before. I use it really often, great lens for the money

Pros
  • Filter size 37mm
Cons
  • Too long to wait

works good, fails, gradually breaks down

it worked well and frankly perfect for my use but the internal wire or the potentiometer (could be both) was broken and now the lens, although it should work finely mechanically, cannot communicate properly with the camera and becomes a fancy paperweight like an electronic focusing lens. if he was really heavy enough for it.

Pros
  • F/3.5 5.6
Cons
  • i will add later

Very sharp lens in SLR Lens

Bought this lens by accident looking for an original kit lens. I started giving away my Micro 4/3 cameras after realizing that a good lens is too expensive. I mostly used outdated lenses with adapters. The one EPL1 I kept was for my daughter's dive box. Eventually I found out I had to buy another EPL1 to get the original lens. See some examples above.

Pros
  • Close focus up to 9.84 inch
Cons
  • Volume

More than enough for me.

Not perfect, but more than enough for me. When the light permits, the aperture is 1 stop below the minimum and the images impress me with their level of detail. Chromatic aberration or soft edges are present but fortunately negligible. The design is also quite good, mostly made of plastic. I would prefer a metal mount, but I don't mind a plastic mount (I've had another one with a plastic mount for over a year: 40-150mm).

Pros
  • Ver. II R, Nearly silent lens MSC
Cons
  • Neutral

R or not R? for lenses

There are two versions of this lens. The latter has an "R" suffix. Differences from the non-R version: 1) Cosmetic - basically adding a cover to the bayonet mount of the hood; and 2) functionality - it has a newer firmware version (which I've read can focus faster with the newer bullet cameras). Visually, the two versions are considered identical. Since the non-R version is usually cheaper to find, I bought it and just updated the firmware (using the free software that can be downloaded fromโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Virtually silent video and compatible autofocus, ideal for filming
Cons
  • Available in white only

It works best with SLR lenses

It gets the job done. The imaging performance is at least what you would expect from a kit lens. The E-M10 corrects wide-angle barrel distortion in-camera (JPG), so it's cool. My minor complaints: - The stupid cheap plastic ring on the front comes off too easily. - it may be a trifle, but the aesthetics - ah. The proportions of this thing, when mounted on the camera and extended, don't tempt you to pick it up and play with it, as some lens/camera combos seem to do. You don't usually see photosโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 7 (round aperture for natural background blur)
Cons
  • Some little things
