Description of Olympus M Zuiko Digital F4 0 5 6 Cameras

Wide-angle zoom lens is designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras and provides an 18-36mm equivalent focal length range. Two Dual Super Aspherical elements, along with one high refractive index element and an aspherical element, reduce spherical aberrations and distortions throughout the zoom range for improved sharpness with minimal distortion. One extra-low dispersion element suppresses color fringing and chromatic aberrations for greater clarity and color accuracy. Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) autofocus system benefits both photo and video applications due to its smooth, quiet, and fast performance. Retractable lens design with a locking button maintains a compact profile when the lens is not in use.

Great lens, a bit expensive

Great lens. Expensive for a normal lens. But after trying a manual focus lens, I decided I needed autofocus with a decent range.

Not perfect, but very good.

Not perfect, but very good. If the light permits, close a stop from wide open and the photos are stunning. Soft bezels at 9mm but thankfully low enough; distortion, minimal. The workmanship is very good and the size is perfect.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • No instructions

This lens is a great choice for landscape photography

This lens is a great choice for landscape photography. Also for night shots. It's not very suitable for photos with people up close, as there is noticeable barrel distortion on the sides.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Bad gear

My new favorite lens is the M43.

This lens has become my favorite for my Olympus E-M5 Mk II camera. It remains my main objective. Stunning color rendition and contrast. I never realized how valuable that focal range was until I got it. The image quality produced is very satisfactory. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

I bought this lens to be used with an Olympus E-M1 micro 4/3 and I'm not disappointed, it's a good combination. This is a very decent wide angle lens with very little distortion at 9mm. I find it great for indoor shots where a wider angle but no distortion is desired. Incredibly small, light and pleasant to the touch. Pretty well done. The lens is locked during use and the release button closes it after use.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Negative is present

An amazing lens in a tiny body

If you've ever seen an ultra wide-angle lens on a full-frame or APS-C camera, you know they're pretty big and heavy. This lens is a marvel of compactness. The folding design is ingenious and, unlike the Olympus 14-42, doesn't look sleek. The lens focuses very quickly (on the Olympus OM-D) and produces excellent images. Any distortion in this lens is corrected by software so straight lines look straight. It's a little pricey but worth it.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • New competition is here

This is an excellent lens. This matches with .

Excellent lens. This corresponds to 18-36mm on a 35mm camera. It replaces three fixed focal length lenses (20, 24 and 35 by 35 mm). I use it on a Panasonic body and it works great. It's very small and comfortable. I paid $499 for it, which is $200 less due to selling Olympus lenses. Detailed comparisons with other lenses are pointless. You won't notice any difference to real 3D objects. If you're making huge prints or looking at images at 500% magnification in Photoshop, you might see…

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Great pictures, small, light and compatible with filters

The small size of 9-18mm is the first thing that strikes me when I unpack the lens - it's only slightly larger than the Panasonic 20mm f/ 1.7 lens, and much smaller (when retracted it extends for use via a small slide switch on the lens barrel) than a Panasonic 14-45mm lens. Zooming is smooth and the lens pops up when you zoom in, but not enough to be uncomfortable. Image clarity and color reproduction are very good, and the field of view range is excellent for wide-angle work. The lens is…

So how does it compare to the Lumix 7-14?

I took an emotional leap and bought a Lumic G 7-14 right after I got my GF1. I tried my hand at wide-angle photography and found the images very appealing, so I went for it. For a long time I only had 7-14s and a Pancake 20mm and I have to say it changed my shooting. Confined to this area, without extensive zooming, I sought broader perspectives and ways to use depth of field to emphasize a subject that would otherwise have been lost in its surroundings. Soon my portraits, especially group…
