Contrary to what others have said in the ad, I didn't notice any noise cancellation on this mic. Bought to replace the 'cheap' mic that came with the amp. but a cheap microphone gave the best sound. The Olympus was stiffer and picked up more background noise. Some irritation was caused by the windshield. I use this to record meetings and lectures and I'm not impressed with the quality of the recording. I hear tons of loud ambient noise and not as many voices coming out of the speakers as I was hoping. This will definitely improve the quality of my recordings (I use an Olympus brand recorder). I record great lectures at the lowest quality and they come out great. Sometimes I spend 5 minutes removing background noise with Audacity (it's very easy, just google for a tutorial) and the result is amazing. Wow! I use this with an Olympus WS-822 and was finally able to do a test with the microphone and the device itself. I'm shocked! This thing is amazing how much better it just isolates the sound of my voice so it's a lot clearer. You don't hear any rustling when I hold the device in my hands or when I move it.
