Good lens, not so good for tops

Optically the lens I received is excellent. I would give 5 stars for that. But since it also advertises itself as "perfect for gyrating”, I have to dock the star. For a low body top like the Bruce Charles top sold here at Revain. it doesn't work well, at least for me. If my rotation isn't perfect and the top rotates at all about the center of the lens during the rotation, it will eventually wobble enough that the edge of the top starts scratching the glass. I've found that a basic $5…

Pros
  • OPTICALLY PROCESSED GLASS || Made from high quality optically processed glass. Highly polished with beveled brushed edges
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

GOOD NOT PERFECT

. This lens is suitable for a gyroscope, but to advertise it as PERFECT for this purpose is an exaggeration. This depends on your vertex and the type of rotation you want. This 200mm lens is slightly more curved than the Foreverspin base, resulting in a greater tendency to spin or wobble. Medium density glass and not as hard as Foreverspin backing. An advantage of this lens is that at the end of the rotation, the extra curvature prevents the vertex from rotating over the edge. The build quality

Pros
  • SUITABLE FOR PHYSICS LESSONS OR TOP ROTATIONS || This optically accurate lens is great for demonstrating optics and refraction in physics classes. The smooth, concave surface also makes this lens ideal for gyroscopes.
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled

Excellent finish for Pocket/Precision gyro

I own various precision grinders (pocket grinders, grinders) from different manufacturers in the diameter range from 5/8" to 2.1". This type of finish is ideal for many styles, except for flat-bottomed and low-clearance records for bearings in records over 1.2 inches in the beginner-collector range (like the likes of Twisted Tops, Fludunlimited/BW Flud, Charles Simeonides, and Patrick Aubert do). ). The concavity tends to get in the way of larger tops with this particular diameter/design. This…
