Good but difficult to calibrate.

A little difficult to calibrate properly. The instructions are clear, but the machine doesn't seem to match my measurements, so I sometimes get weird readings (30 steps when I've walked 10 steps), etc., and there are no instructions on how to fix this problem. I got this by experimenting but still get weird results. Maybe I'm MUCH slower than most people, but most of my metrics say there should be about 2000 steps in a mile. my miles are around 3300. =/ Huh? In general, this is usually…

Pros
  • Step counter with calorie counter
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Poor accuracy and few features

Unlike another reviewer whose review I read, I found this pedometer to be inaccurate. This shows a lot more steps than I'm actually taking and is over a tenth of a mile off the distance I walked. I was particularly disappointed to find out that a friend and his fiancee had bought another pedometer (for the same price I paid for this one) that tracks their steps and distance very accurately, despite being totally the same in height/weight are different. Characteristics. Also, they have a…

Pros
  • Digital 12 or 24 hour clock
Cons
  • Can't remember

Best in class pedometer I have owned

I have tried several relatively inexpensive pedometers ($5-$15) and have been disappointed with their accuracy. This Oregon Scientific PE316CA was the best I've tried. It has a sensitivity slider that others didn't have. With this function you can adapt the sensitivity to your step energy. (Others didn't record steps when I walked lightly, only when I did "power walking".) I didn't have any issues with the latch opening the display, as others have reported. The digital display is large and easy

Pros
  • HiGlo EL for a basic display
Cons
  • Big and bulky
